Most of what determines a career is not taught in a classroom. It is knowing which certification is worth the money, how to answer the question you were not expecting, when to leave a job, how to price your work, and whether the opportunity in front of you is the one to take. That knowledge sits with people who have already been where you are going, and this Association is full of them.
The Mentorship programme exists to connect the two.
For Mentees
You are paired with a member ahead of you in your field or your ambition. What you get is not a course; it is a person you can ask.
For Mentors
You take one mentee for a cycle. It costs an hour or two a month, and it keeps mutual support from being merely a sentence in a document.
How It Works
Enrol
Sign in and complete the mentorship profile, indicating whether you wish to be a mentor, a mentee, or both.
Matching
The system proposes pairings based on profession, industry, skills and objectives.
Confirmation
The Career Growth Coordinator reviews and confirms every pairing personally. No pairing is made by algorithm alone.
Introduction
Both parties are notified, contact details are released, and you agree between yourselves how and how often you will meet.
Logging
Each session is logged on the platform: date, topic and next step. This is light, and it exists so the department knows which pairings are alive.
Close of Cycle
Both parties complete a short feedback form, and may re-enrol for the next cycle.
What's Expected of Both Parties
- Keep the appointments you agree to, or say in good time that you cannot.
- Treat what is shared in confidence as confidential.
- Conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the values of this fellowship.
- Tell the Coordinator if the pairing is not working; it is nobody's failure, it is a reason to re-pair.
- Contact details released through this programme are for the mentoring relationship only, and must not be used for marketing, solicitation or fundraising of any kind.
